few years ago my wife Theresa Viola and I began SCUBA
diving as a hobby. Little did we know how many wonderful
places that past time would take us. Diving had become
the driving force in all of our vacation plans and we
decided that a tropical island would be a great place
to own a vacation home. As Real Estate agents in California
we were able to schedule extra vacation time and we
wanted a comfortable place to spend that time.
The next place we chose for a vacation
was Roatan in Feb 2003. Theresa and I came to Roatan
to dive the warm water and to look for a vacation home
because we had heard about the great values. During
our two-week visit both of us became completely enamored
with this beautiful banana shaped island. It wasn’t
hard to find our vacation home, in fact by the time
we left Roatan we were in contract for our new home.
Upon our return to the U.S. we couldn’t
get Roatan off our minds. We found it impossible to
ignore all the opportunities we had seen while on the
island. After much discussion we decided to pack our
things, rent out our house and try living in Roatan
for one year. Well one year quickly turned into almost
4 and today we are still here.
One of the things I enjoy most about living
on Roatan is showing new visitors the island and educating
them on opportunities for buying homes or investing.

Philip Buck
Raised
and educated in Western Tennessee Philip spent many
years as an electrical engineer in the Southern U.S.
and then California. After working in the corporate
world Philip decided to take more control of his career
and became a licensed real estate professional in California.
Philip began as a mortgage officer working closely with
real estate agents to provide funding for their sales.
As Philip's endeavors became successful he and his wife
began looking for a vacation home where they could enjoy
their diving hobby in tropical waters. They quickly
found their vacation home in Roatan in 2003. However
the opportunities in Roatan kept calling to them and
they decided to leave California for their new home.
That was 2003 and today Philip is still here fulltime
enjoying showing new visitors around the island and
educating them on opportunities for buying homes or
