All suites will be appointed with state-of-the-art technology, including flat-screen HDTVs and Nikki Beach Ultra Lounge will be the place to party the night away. During the day the Nikki Beach Spa and Fitness center will be open for pampering the body and mind.

To all of you who have asked me “when can I play a round of golf on Roatan?” The answer is March 2010 ….. or there abouts. Before the June kick off of Pristine Bay development and the Black Pearl Golf Club no one could definitely say when you could play a round on Roatan. The many rumors and failed attempts to start a golf club on Roatan had left everyone a skeptic but Perry Dye’s presentation showed their groups past performance and their plan for Roatan in very convincing terms.

If you have paid attention to property prices around new golf course developments in the U.S. just imagine what will happen is the already fast growing Rotan real estate market.

While I was reviewing some historical sales numbers from our Multiple Listing Service this week I noticed a significant trend I wanted to share with you. This trend is significant in light of the U.S. real estate market trending in the wrong direction.

As many of you know the Roatan Real Estate market has been very strong for several years, so I was curious if 2007 had continued that upward trend while the U.S. market was trending down. Based on my personal experience I felt the Roatan market had stayed strong and based on the MLS data the answer is definitely yes.

The total Roatan marked had a strong increase of 33.9% in total dollar volume of sales to $51.3M. Many would argue that an increase in sales volume alone does not make a strong market but here is the kicker. With that large increase in dollar volume the average sale price for a property only changed -0.7% with the average price being $309,000. In the current world market to have a 34% increase in sales volume with effectively no change in the average price represents a strong and stable real estate market.

West Bay Beach is one of the worlds top beaches. A Three bedroom condos on West Bay Beach is a rare commodity and to have one for sale almost never happens, until now. The owner had this specially built and it is the only 3BR in the Mayan Princess Beach Resort. Another special feature is the interior door that separates the upstairs two bedrooms, bath and morning kitchen from the main living space, kitchen and master bedroom downstairs. Last week Roatan’s International airport was again transformed into a Concert Hall for the 3rd Annual Christmas Concert for the Angels. The Chair Committee of Helen Murphy, Ana Svoboda and Marion Seaman rearranged and decorated the airport lobby until it was a fabulous Christmas scene and concert hall. The chamber music ensemble Appassionato from San Pedro Sula performed a group of classic music and traditional Christmas music which included vocalist and clarinet solos.

The beneficiaries of the ticket sales and silent auction are Island to Island, Roatan Daycare Center, Familias Saludables, Little Friends Foundation and Clinica Esperanza. This years silent auction achieved its goal of raising $10,000 for the charities. The total raised has yet to be announced.

Hi everyone, our warm October has now begun to turn into our cooler November. On Tuesday we had our first “Northerner”. For those not familiar with Roatan’s weather this is a frontal passage that sweeps down from the U.S. through the Gulf of Mexico and into the western Caribbean. Usually these fronts approach with big rain storms and pass through leaving cooler temperatures and blue sky. Such was the case with this first one of the season.

On Tuesday night it started raining and dumped enough to overflow my 6″ rain gauge. Then from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning we had another 3″ of rain. Now the weather is picture perfect with blue sky and fluffy clouds and a westerly breeze at 80 degrees Fahrenheit. This is one of my favorite times of the year on the island.
